Knowing is the debut release from Oxford/London-based singer-songwriter Anna McCrae. In three short tracks she creates a lyrically narrative, guitar-oriented work which is both sorrowful and defiant in tone. Whilst Knowing floats somewhere between folk and rnb, there are moments where the laid-back, soulfulness of the vocals veers off into something more sassy, more raw.

At only 19 years old she has been performing in Oxford for a while already, including slots at Common People and Cowley Road Carnival, as well as performing live on BBC Radio Oxford as part of Young Women’s Music Project who are currently Oxford’s BBC Introducing artist of the year.

Forgotten 03:41
The easiest things can be said When the hardest things can be left Forgotten I can write words about circumstances I've never known But when it come to real shit my words have no backbone Forgotten Forgotten Forgotten I can't light a match when its dark outside and raining all night But I can start a fire from nothing Forgotten Forgotten So I'll close my eyes cus vision can't help me now So go and dry your tears with the tissue in the corner of my room Because I can't be a shoulder if I can't cry alone And I can't show you how if I don't know on my own Forgotten Forgotten I can't light a match when its dark outside and raining all night But I can start a fire from nothing Forgotten Forgotten

about

Anna McCrae London, UK

At 21 I am based between Oxford and London. I am a Synth Dream Pop artist with a heavy majority of my music being melodramatic and melancholic. My new EP "everytime I let you in" (out 15th February) is the first time I have experimented with self production and from doing this I have definitely found a whole new sound involving a lot of synths and delicate vocal melodies. ... more
